Update JCB contactless specification v1.6 now applicable
JCB Contactless is the Japanese JCB-branded contactless payment system that allows customers to shop by simply waving their card over the terminal.
In their course of progress, the Japan based payment scheme has recently updated their contactless specification and released an updated version, the 1.6 release.
Now JCB supports 2 transaction modes : the EMV and the legacy modes.
Changes included in this new update are related to transactions operated in the transit environment, and cardholder verification features. This version also improves the security level of the transaction.
Changes are effective immediately.
