New interoperability tests for JCB type approval

The Japan-based payment system has recently released several documents to announce the addition of interoperability tests to be performed during the type approval sessions of contactless payment terminals submitted to JCB certification.

The purpose of interoperability tests is to ensure that contactless card readers have the capability to accept different types of payment cards.

Smart payment terminals submitted to JCB type approval shall now undergo 3 types of tests to be JCB approved :  functional tests, performance tests, and interoperability tests.

The 3 types of tests are described in the updated Requirements for Approval Test Program for JCB Contactless IC Terminal 1.12 document. Vendors can also refer to the Requirements for Approval Test Program for JCB Tap on Mobile 1.3 document if they plan to submit SoftPOS solution to JCB type approval.
